MANHATTAN (FOX 25 / myfoxboston.com) – A Manhattan banker is suing Citbank, claiming she was fired because she was too attractive.
Debrahlee Lorenzana was fired last summer from her job as a banker at a Citibank branch, FOX News reports. She says it was because she is too good looking, but her bosses allegedly claimed it was due to her job performance.
Lorenzana, of New York, says her bosses told her they could not concentrate on work because she was too distracting. She says she was ordered to stop wearing turtlenecks, pencil skirts, three-inch heels or fitted business suits.
The 33-year-old single mother says it wasn’t so much her wardrobe that bothered her male co-workers as it was her shapely figure. She says some of her female colleagues wore clothing that was much more revealing.
The lawsuit will be heard by an arbitrator because Lorenzana signed an arbitration clause as part of her employment with Citibank.
Citibank did not comment about the lawsuit.
